Tuition fee €890.00 per year

The amount of the tuition fee depends on the number of credits you take. Indicated here is the price for 60 credits per year.

Application fee €50.00 one-time

In line with the Teaching and Examination Regulations, students who have not obtained a Flemish degree will need to pay an application fee of 50 euro for each application. The university makes NO exceptions for scholarship students or for students who meet the programme’s academic requirements.

Enrolled students will pay the tuition fee minus the application fee of their specific programme. This means that if you enrol after a positive application, the tuition fee will be reduced with the application fee. Paying multiple application fees will not automatically reduce your tuition fee. Please note that additional costs for the bank transfer are the sole responsibility of the applicant

The Chemistry training programme aspires to enable students to acquire due knowledge, understanding and practical skills and to gain a duly scientific method of thinking.

The programme is designed to:

- offer Master students an in-depth training in the main disciplines of chemistry, with the inclusion of biochemistry and environmental chemistry, and their respective applications;

- to bring students up to par with the latest developments in at least one specialist area;

- teach students to situate the importance of chemistry in everyday life, the environment and society;

- to teach students how to put forward solutions for scientific issues in a self-reliant and scientifically responsible manner;

- to teach students how to interpret scientific results with a due sense of scientific critique and to draw pertinent conclusions from such results, and much more.

Programme structure

Apart from a mandatory set of core competences, the programme offers a wide variety of classes within four current trends in Chemistry (clusters composed of a course package of 30 ECTS credits):

Molecular and Macromolecular Design offers a thorough education in the design and synthesis of organic molecules and polymers, in which medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry and structural analysis feature prominently.
Materials Chemistry focuses on the properties of materials, such as polymers, for example surface analysis, X-rays and laser spectroscopy and computational chemistry.
Analysis and Characterisation covers a whole range of analytical techniques, including new electrochemical methods, advanced chromatography and elemental and isotope analyses.
Environmental Chemistry studies natural and disturbed processes in water, soil and atmosphere. A variety of analytical techniques are used here, and new sampling and measuring techniques are designed, refined and optimised.

Additionally 2main orientations exist, allowing you to select a profile composed of an additional course package of 30 ECTS in Research or Industry.
