This course will help you to become proficient in theoretical concepts in social research.

You’ll develop highly sought after practical qualitative and quantitative research skills through our hands-on teaching methods. You can tailor the course to your interests by selecting from a wide range of modules that will expose you to the latest debates within your field of research.

Graduates can expect to move directly to innovative PhD research, or find employment within roles that require high-level research skills.

Course content

You’ll get research training in both generic social science and subject-specific areas. You must complete one 30-credit and four 15-credit core modules, two 15-credit optional modules and a 60-credit dissertation.

Optional modules

Further Quantitative Methods or
Further Qualitative Methods

Plus 45 credits from within the subject area of your intended research topic, which will include a module on interdisciplinary working to address key debates in your field.
