Manual therapy is the treatment of various ailments through physical
manipulation of the body.
The MSc in Manual Therapy is open to Health Professionals Council
(HPC) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) registered
physiotherapists who wish to develop and extend their knowledge base
and professional expertise in the field of manual therapy.
The course is strongly based on clinical reasoning, research and
evidence-based practice, and places an emphasis on the development of
clinical skills. The course is taught by research and clinically
active academic staff.
Manual Therapy also focuses on manual skills and mentored clinical
practice, allowing you to develop confidence and expertise in the
assessment and management of musculoskeletal disorders. With many of
our students working full-time we ensure our learning pathway is
flexible, with study of up to five years part-time available.

The course will prepare you for specialist roles within
neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy such as extended scope
practitioner, clinical specialist and consultant physiotherapy posts
and will enhance your career opportunities.
Students who successfully complete the postgraduate diploma are
eligible to join the Manipulation Association of Chartered
Physiotherapists. Students who chose not to stay in practice have gone
into a variety of roles including research specialists and lecturers.
